2024 - 2025 Season

By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba

The Buffalo Bills culminated one of their best seasons during the McDermott/Beane era in which both franchise administrators did their best work. This to me was by far the best season of their tenure, because the organization exceeded all expectations making the playoffs for the seventh time in eight years. The reason I am so adamant about this issue is simple.  When analyzing this roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball, this team was never where it had been in the past because of the personnel changes that saw them say goodbye to so many veteran players during the last offseason. Even with that being said, many of the prognosticators predicted the Bills would be challenged for the division.

Ravens at The Bills

The Bills secured the AFC East the 12th week of the season and set their sights on home field advantage. The defense of the Bills, I think, is the area that needs an infusion of two or three of the best players to accomplish the things that Sean McDermott  has done during his coaching career. These players in my opinion, must be found in the draft so they can get the maximum use out of them. Evidently each year, thirty-one cities around the league end their season in disappointment. As I understand that, Western New York should be proud of the McDermott/Beane era because they have been extremely competitive each year; something we had not done in the previous seventeen years before their arrival.

The remarkable thing about a successful organization is that you can draft for the best players you have designated as priorities on your draft board. Brandon Beane and the scouting staff have truly excelled with impact players being found in the later rounds such as a Christian Benford and others. So, I look forward to this franchise continuing to improve on a solid foundation regardless of how the season ends.
