Beyonce’s Christmas Halftime Show Review: Cowboy Carter a Collaboration with Shaboozey
By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba
The term musical artist truly has found itself in Beyonce. It was truly exemplified in her latest 13-minute production on Christmas day, 2024 during the NFL’s halftime show in Houston, Texas. Her musical performance highlighted country music, a genre which does not have exclusivity in one cultural community. Shaboozey’s, (a Nigerian-African singer and rapper) collaboration helped to musically bridge the gap between cultures.
Beyonce skillfully put together a beautiful story which gave way to her creativity in terms of artistry. The art of coordinating a story at such an elevated level is deserving of our praise for her genius. It is amazing that we are so critical of artists now, that we forget the pleasure of seeing such an elevated level of musical expression. Beyonce brought this message along with such an incredible feat of coordination, making this performance a must see, memorable event that will be spoken about for years to come.
We need to start appreciating these talented artists today, rather than acknowledging their prominent level of artistic expression after they no longer appear on the scene. This halftime performance will be the first of many that sets the stage for elevated levels regarding musical production. Once again, Beyonce has provided another standard removing boundaries wherein only one cultural group dominates and receives recognition for this type of musical expression. Although the magnitude of her influence in the genre of country music is yet to be determined, the beauty of her artistry displayed at its highest level of expression, is surely to be a memorable.
