Local Sorority Donates 257 Children’s Books to Buffalo Libraries
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is thrilled to announce a generous donation of 257 new children’s books from the Xi Epsilon Omega Amherst Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. These books will be housed at the downtown Central Library, located at 1 Lafayette Square, and the Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Branch Library, at 1324 Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo. They will be available for borrowing throughout Erie County, benefiting all library cardholders.
The donation was organized by the Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter’s Uplift Our Local Community Committee, which hosted a series of book drives to collect new books for elementary and middle school students. The committee, composed primarily of retired educators and dedicated community advocates, sought to enrich the library's resources and inspire young readers across the region.
